R Tools for Visual Studio v0.3 available for download
- uptownfunk 10y agoThis looks cool, what can/can't it do that RStudio can't/can? Is there support for Git? Didn't see it on the video.
- rabboRubble 10y agoMy Meetup group had a demo from the Visual Studio MS team lead a few weeks back. The idea was to replace or augment Rstudio. Given where they are going with SQL, Excel, and R integration, they see VS sitting in the development and data/analysis publishing workflow. Seemed to me that they are still in the feature implementation mode and were actively querying the meet up crowd for things done in other IDE that needed to be ported into VS. That doesn't really answer your question, but did my best to restate what I saw / heard.
- smortaz 10y ago1. currently not a whole lot. perhaps its best feature is that it's part of the VS family, so in one IDE you get other langs like Python, C++, C#, etc. tho, a heavy IDE isn't everyone's cup of tea... 2. yes. VS comes with full git support built-in.
- _Wintermute 10y ago> what can/can't it do that RStudio can't/can? If it manages to not crash every 30 minutes I'll be a convert.
- uptownfunk 10y agoWait which one crashes for you ? VS or RStudio?
- _Wintermute 10y agoRStudio. The console just locks up and I have to force close the software.
