Why do cicadas have prime life-spans? [pdf]
- p4bl0 11y agoA friend sent me this paper after I told him how I found it strange that Cicadas stay underground for 17 years (a "WTF evolution?" revelation for me), which I learned by watching the recently posted Last Week Tonight web exclusive video [1]. Now that I have the explanation, I find it both obvious and beautiful, kind of like a nice hack, and I think it can be of interest to other HNers :).
