Hi. While I totally agree with your conclusion, you and so many other "analysts" totally miss the #1, the premier reason why Microsoft has been dead for a long time ( 5 years). Microsoft had a massive leadership (not brain) drain during the late 1990's web gold rush. They've never recovered. And, at a time when their girth most demanded leadership, it was gone. Long gone. To Google, Apple, and few dozen other top SV firms.
