Ummm... SFO landlords have huge demands for their apartments. It's pretty common for them to demand you pay for them to do a credit check just to apply to rent their apartment. So I seriously doubt there are many that decide "you're cool, I'll rent to you". Of course, you can always find an idiot, but I've never heard of anyone who rents without a credit check.
