So soon after the bad financials ... seems odd.

  I highly doubt there is a correlation. The financials were "bad" for Wall Street... But for the vast majority of the employees, I doubt they will lose sleep over a 9% drop, on what will most likely be a one-off for Apple's quarterly reports.
