"Because we believe system administrator appreciation day should be everyday, we started building a client based on nodejs." I must be a cranky system administrator because I find idea of using nodejs for a CLI extremely tiresome in a "get off my lawn" sort of way.
- remy_ 10y agoFair play! We will propose something with less dependencies and more native support.
- icedchai 10y agoObviously. Real men and women know CLI apps are binary executables, and should be written in C, C++, or, perhaps, Go.
- drdaeman 10y agoSacrasm aside, saying "node.js" strongly implies use of npm, and that means pulling a lot (think deps-of-deps-of-deps) of potentially unaudited code off the network, without much authentication. Not something one would fancy for a tool that handles sensitive data.
- icedchai 10y agoI was only being slightly sarcastic. I installed an app with a relatively small number of dependencies, and was shocked to see my node_modules directory contained over 100,000 files.
- mrinternet_001 10y agoClint is a good options here in python
- ams6110 10y agoIf you want a CLI password manager with a sysadmin mindset get pass. https://www.passwordstore.org/ https://www.passwordstore.org/ It's a bash script.
