Its one of the things that I hate about the new star trek movies, and the last star trek series. Instead of that "look towards the future" excitement that it used to give me, it's more of a shiny nostalgia feel. I realize star trek is 50 years old now, but it's always been at its best when it was the dream of what the future could be. I'm hoping the new series coming out in a year tries to recreate what the future COULD be by jumping a century ahead of where voyager left off (i believe that was as far as we got into the future in a Star Trek series).
