This seems like an dangerous appeal to authority to me.
Just because Linus said so doesn't make it true.
Especially when the context of this quote is almost 10 years old, mostly irrelevant to the language itself (crappy C++ programmers and rigid architectures) or obsolete (bugs in the STL and boost).
