I think he was referring to Amazon S3 prices which are up around the numbers he mentioned. But Amazon also has "Glacier" for 3/4 of one penny per month, and Backblaze has an S3 competitor for even less at 1/2 of one penny per month.
- toomuchtodo 10y agoDon't forget Google Nearline. $0.01/GB/month, same access speeds as S3.
- amdavidson 10y agoCalling Nearline speeds the "same" is dependent on how much data you are storing per account, 4MBps per TB stored[0]. 0: https://cloud.google.com/storage/docs/nearline https://cloud.google.com/storage/docs/nearline
- boulos 10y agoIf you needed to (as in a Disaster Recovery scenario), you'd just flip on "On-Demand I/O": https://cloud.google.com/storage/docs/on-demand-io https://cloud.google.com/storage/docs/on-demand-io . There will be a surcharge of $0.005 per GB of data transferred that goes over the 4 MB/s of throughput (https://cloud.google.com/storage/pricing#on-demand-pricing https://cloud.google.com/storage/pricing#on-demand-pricing). Disclosure: I work on Google Cloud (but not Nearline).
- eloff 10y agoYes, and Google's cheaper storage offering as well.
- pavs 10y agoAmazon have Cloud storage, I am using it with 11TB right now. Fixed monthly price, 60 bucks a year. I have a cron script running thats sync with cloud drive twice a day. Delete, download, store as often as you want. I have seen couple of people on reddit storing 300+ tb, so you know you are at least safe till you reach that limit.
- bwilliams18 10y agocare to share some of the cron script??
- pavs 10y agocron simply runs rclone through a bash script. Should dfinately checkout rclone, http://rclone.org/ http://rclone.org/
- lewisl9029 10y agoUntil they realize offering unlimited storage is unsustainable and scale back the limits like countless cloud storage services have done before...
- scholia 10y ago> couple of people on reddit storing 300+ tb What do they have 300TB of, if it's not a rude question... ;-)
