Does anyone know what a 4000T is worth these days? I've got the computer the local library used to use for their local access cable channel rotting away in my basement right now. I have no use for it but I'd like to make sure someone who wanted it got it rather than sending it off to some unknown fate.
- EvanAnderson 10y agoGiven the rarity of that machine I'd guess it's actually worth a fair bit to the right collector or Amiga enthusiast. (It sounds like quite a find, to me, and I wish I could justify the purchase... >smile<)
- phjesusthatguy3 10y agoI'd ship it wherever but it's a really heavy machine and I don't want to just dump it on someone. I suppose I should take pictures and get it online.
- EvanAnderson 10y agoI daresay you'll make enough money to make it worth your trouble. Your other comments re: making sure it goes to a good home are really commendable. The Amiga family are a bunch of neat and quirky computers from a bygone personal computer era and they're definitely worth preserving.
- phjesusthatguy3 10y agoIt's a Commodore machine. I already threw out a C128 because I didn't need it anymore and that was a huge mistake. I'm not trying to make a killing on this thing but I'm pretty sure it's not something I should just throw out.
- ZenoArrow 10y agoI don't know what the going rate for an A4000T is these days, but if you'd like to find a buyer I'd say Amibay is worth a try: http://www.amibay.com/forum.php http://www.amibay.com/forum.php
- phjesusthatguy3 10y agoThanks! I'll take a look.
- anexprogrammer 10y agoWouldn't like to guess value, but it's the rarest of the big box Amigas and doubly so if it is the variant with the 060. On board SCSI and IDE and the only Ami with HD floppy. Someone out there will want to buy it.
- phjesusthatguy3 10y agoThank you. I've got that feeling too but I don't want to look like an opportunist. I also don't want to just junk it because I know there are people out there who would want it if I got it to them.
- wk_end 10y agoIf you have an old Amiga and if you haven't already, crack it open and remove the battery. The ones Commodore shipped them with are prone to leaking acid all over the PCB, destroying it [1]. - phjesusthatguy3 10y agoThank you. I'll check that when I get home tonight.
- edem 10y agoWas it leaking?
- phjesusthatguy3 10y agofortunately not. thanks for the heads up though.
