Who can say which parts of what we do are the ones that make us into ourselves and which parts are useless. It is not your way, but it definitely has an obvious utility for the people engaging in it. Passing broad judgement against that utility because it's outcomes are behavioral and mind-state rather than material is a reflection of your culture, not the senselessness of theirs.
