No capital ships took direct hits during operation crossroads.
The closest was the USS Arkansas, at 170 yards from ground zero during the underwater baker test. It was lifted all the way to the vertical by the blast, before being pummeled into the sea floor.
- agentgt 10y agoAhh that is right. I was going to double check that and I'm annoyed that I didn't. For some reason I thought some of them were hit directly. Regardless the ships that did survive I don't think any humans would have survived on those ships given the intense shock waves (as shown by obliterated test sheep).
