I'm currently quite happy in an industry job in which my PhD is an asset, but I'd still advise others against pursuing a PhD. I could've found a career path that would be just as fulfilling without a PhD, and I could've gotten there faster if I hadn't spent 10 years on a PhD+postdoc. My standard advice to people currently in grad school is to drop out with a masters.
