Let's be cynical but real here, how many developers care or are even security aware? Here on HN, maybe most are, but out there, most people don't really have a clue or care about the user's data. As long as there is some revenue, all is "well". This is why such things should be enforced in the OS, with a strict security model, and such shady permission overreach should be frowned upon.
