After reading through the comments, there is one more thing to throw in the mix: software can only be as good as the tools you develop them with. I'm building the same app for Android and iOS, and the latter is ways quicker. Even with last week's new Android Studio 2, it takes at least twice as long to build the changes and run a new update on Android. (Not to mention testing with multiple screens, emulators etc.) Not surprisingly that shows in developer's salaries, and imho the quality of the products.
