Isn't it reasonable to say that adherents to the Mormon faith have a pretty strong motive not to find the Book of Mormon to be a bunch of baloney--in fact, to invent as many arguments as necessary to support the idea that it isn't? Edit: Appealing to the authority of academics seems a poor strategy when those academicians' dinners rely on toeing the party line.
