Another reason to care, is that language often effects what the implementation is going to be like. Ie, if this was NodeJS, it would likely require i have Node installed. If it's a binary language, there's a good chance it has no runtime dependencies, or possibly just some lib deps. edit: Looks like this same argument has been made plenty of times :)
