Did you even read the article? It talks about rising death rates due to preventable causes like smoking, obesity, alcohol, and opioid abuse. While the changes may seem minor, they are indicative of larger social issues.

- my_opic_farseer 11y agoThere used to be a lot of farmers there as well, but the mega-farmers won-out and now it's just massive acres to a relatively few folks. Most of it is just sheer ruthlessness paired with advances in technology. The condition of rural America is going to be the same condition in any other area dependent on a monopolized industry. Just you wait and see, "tech" is going to go through the same thing. In fact, it already is. Those "tech bros" are the same kind of shit bags that left rural American in a mess.
