I would suggest reading "Fat Chance: Beating the Odds Against Sugar, Processed Food, Obesity, and Disease" by Robert Lustig.
He goes into the science behind sugary diets and why they are truly so addicting.
I'm talking about, more addicting than cocaine.
- ant6n 11y agoThat's a great title, and a fitting author's name (Lustig is German for funny).
- Ygg2 11y ago> I'm talking about, more addicting than cocaine. Really? I'm on diet for Candida and sugars are a no-no. And the worst part was a week of headaches (that was in part caffeine induced). I haven't tried cocaine, but I imagine cocaine has more side effects than just that.
- donutdan4114 11y agoThere's a lot of info out there about how truly addicting sugar is. A sample: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jacobsullum/2013/10/16/research-shows-cocaine-and-heroin-are-less-addictive-than-oreos/#458107d84b7b http://www.forbes.com/sites/jacobsullum/2013/10/16/research-...
- Ygg2 11y agoYeah, well, I'm not a rat. Just because rats liked side with Oreos as much as they liked side with Morhpine doesn't mean Sugar = Morphine.
- jamie_ca 11y agoDon't confuse addiction with withdrawal.
- Ygg2 11y agoYou do have a point, but saying addiction is worse than cocaine implies it disrupts normal life in greater extent.
