When the source code has a whitelist of usernames for which encryption should be disabled, put there under court order, you'll see the difference between external verification vs source code inspection.
- tptacek 10y agoI really think that's what most people arguing against WhatsApp believe: that a backdoor in a secure messaging application would take the form of intelligible source code expressing directly that backdoor. Obviously, a WhatsApp backdoor would not in fact take that form.
