- danieltillett 11y agoNice - one thing that would be nice is the description text under each title. Often the title doesn't really tell you too much about what the idea is about and you have to click on each title to read. I would love just one long list of all the titles and description that I could scan through.
- jayrhynas 11y agoUntil OP adds that, you could use this: https://hn.algolia.com/?query=%22apply%20hn%22&sort=byDate&dateRange=all&type=story&storyText=false&prefix=false&page=0 https://hn.algolia.com/?query=%22apply%20hn%22&sort=byDate&d...
- manibatra 11y agoI could do that but some of the posts have a HUGE amount of text. That was my reasoning of having it the way it is. Thoughts?
- caffeinewriter 11y agoMaybe snip it at the first line break, and/or limit it to a certain amount of words to show above the fold, then expand it to read the rest.
- manibatra 11y agoGreat idea! I will certainly try it out first thing tomorrow morning. Thanks for the feedback :)
- manibatra 11y agoI tried what you said...The results were very inconsistent. As there is no particular format for posting there was no coherence at all
- caffeinewriter 11y agoWell that's disappointing (not at all on your part, but on the part of the current format), but completely understandable considering how freeform YC seems to have encouraged these applications to be.
- brad0 11y agoWell done! I'm curious, are you consuming the HN search API or scraping it yourself?
- manibatra 11y agoThanks a tonne! I am using the API provided by the awesome guys at Algolia at https://hn.algolia.com/api https://hn.algolia.com/api . They did all the hard work! My job was fairly easy :)
