We are afraid that when we nanotexture the floor of a shower (or apply a polymer film on top of the tile) that the surface will become a hazard to someone trying to take a shower You mean because it's slippery? If so, don't worry about it. My shower floor (plastic, not tile) has ~millimeter-sized bumps that make it not slippery at all.
