The fact that MongoDB exists and is, despite all good sense to the contrary, still actively adopted by people for various projects belies the idea that stuff is a necessary prerequisite to success.
- smt88 11y agoYour example of MongoDB brings up the most important issue with this company. As HN users, we're all curious about and focusing on the technology, but the technology doesn't seem to dictate winners and losers. Mongo "won" (to the extent that it won) because it had some kind of excellent mixture of luck and marketing. How will Brodlist succeed? I imagine the marketing talent would have to be absolutely incredible.
