Unfortunately, they cannot be used for mass transit, as it takes to long to get a wheelchair or stroller onto them :(. That's not true. When I lived in Minnesota, Southwest Metro Transit used coach-style buses to go to and from Downtown Minneapolis, and they were just fine. The time needed to deploy their wheelchair lifts was about the same as the time needed for a regular "kneeling bus" to deploy its wheelchair ramp.
