Don't electric cars have solar panels in windows and on roofs? I've seen one like that.
- dogma1138 11y agoNo, not unless they are some competition ultra long endurance type projects. Even with 100% efficiency cars don't have enough surface area to come to even being close to be able to be driven on solar. Heck with a regular car the added weight most likely will make it less efficient.
- rz2k 11y agoFor fun here are some very rough figures. ~ 1000 watts per square meter from the sun ~ 5 horsepower from the surface of a car ~ 10-20hp for a car to travel at highway speed I imagine that 1 horsepower is much more realistic from solar panels on a car, even in perfect weather at noon.
