If one increase the minimum wage the business employing people have 3 choices: 1. Have less profit, but this is not in the business owners interest 2. Increase the prices, this might be possible. This would normally lead to less customers since the cost increased 3. Become more effecient, reduce the number of people employed I would guess mostly and sometimes 2 would be the normal response. Nobody wants to decrease their profit and the profit can not be lower than 0 over time.
