I'm pretty sure kids under 20 are far, incomparably, even, more internet-savvy than the previous generations.
So I'm going to go ahead and guess this is a problem with the use of the word "savvy".
Let's take the internet out of the equation. Kids are inexperienced, short-sighted, and lack the perspective to understand the short- and long-term ramifications of what they say and do.
In short: they're (on average) dumb.
And this has never and will never change. It's part of this thing we refer to as "growing up". It's why minors can't legally vote, or buy alcohol or cigarettes.
All the internet did was give them a very public, very permanent place to be dumb.
