The dignity of work is a Protestant myth.
- ArkyBeagle 11y agoThere's something to it, though. For one, creating consumer surplus for others is almost inarguably good moral math, for another, it's often a base layer for satisfaction with your life. It's nice to have an "I did that" moment now and again. The problem comes in when it's work of low integrity, phony work, make work. All things being equal, you'll nearly never convince me that simply owning things is morally superior to labor.
- fu9ar 10y agoI'm not arguing that Capitalism is okay, either. The dignity of work is how the "Owners" morally justify their use of wage-slavery to capitalize.
