What do you guys think about Saas vs licensing containers? With Saas, the vendor takes care of operating the infrastructure. With containers the customer is responsible for the infrastructure. Which do you prefer and why?
- TeMPOraL 11y agoContainers, because they can be made simple enough to not require having a specialized sysadmin, and they give you full control - it's your network, your data and your machines executing code. No third party can suddenly disappear, "update" to add "features", get acquihired, etc. I understand that the benefits of SaaS is that it is easy, but if you step back and look at it from an engineering (or security) point of view, the current obsession with it is simply insane.
