It's one thing to have a side project and play with a new technology over the weekend- that's cool, but it isn't a product. It's like when people post 'Ask HN: Review my startup!" and it's some twitter app they threw together in a weekend. That's not a product, it's a side project. Side projects can turn into products over time, but it's usually a tough transition. A product has to be marketed. A product has to have you communicating with customers. A product needs a price.
