I imagine there is some way to do this yourself today by just adding nodes with the right labels and startup script, or even referencing the same images as the google-managed instance group for the cluster, but it feels like that would take away the ability to upgrade the nodes using the google tooling?
Thanks! Really loving the kubernetes ecosystem and appreciate the activity here on HN from the google team members...
- boulos 11y agoFrom the article: > Though we highlight GCE and EC2, this functionality is available in any Kubernetes 1.2 cluster, including Google Container Engine (GKE).
- ShaneOG 11y agoIs there any documentation on how to enable this yet?
- roberthbailey 11y agoThere isn't. While the underlying technology is available in GKE with 1.2, the ability to seamlessly launch a multi-zone cluster doesn't yet exist. As mentioned in other comments, you could reverse engineer the GCE setup scripts and do this manually if you really wanted to.
- TheIronYuppie 11y agoDisclosure: I work at Google on Kubernetes. We, unfortunately, don't talk about plans for Google Container Engine (GKE), but given that this is already available in Kubernetes, I'll let you jump to conclusions :) Stay tuned!
