I take a digital photo and print it out, full-page size. Tape the screws to the location on the photo. Write the number in which they were removed. This is especially helpful if what you're disassembling has a ton of slightly-different-length screws. Also helps to keep a record of the cable routing which can be tricky on laptops and cameras.
