- mikeash 11y ago20GHz at what IPC? Performance isn't just clock rate and core count, there's also been a big improvement over the years in how many instructions the CPU can execute per clock cycle. GHz has been more or less stagnant since the P4, but single-core speeds have still gone up significantly.
