Bad idea warning: they should have put this on reddit instead. While the current culture of reddit is very inflammatory (lots of vitriol all around), at least on reddit there's a feedback system in the form of upvotes and downvotes. While supporters of bad opinions will still upvote it, in the right subreddit, the really bad comments would still be downvoted. Of course this is all contingent on people not realizing its a bot, because everyone will then ironically upvote it. (They shouldn't have revealed that here either in my opinion because it shifts the status quo from conversing with an intelligent being, to a programmed bot to test things you might not say to others) Honestly I'm not even sure there are any platforms left where people can have reasoned discussion with each other without memes and trolling. (HN comes close but it has its own issues, not to mention a forum for startups and programmers doesn't really represent the average person)

- cooper12 11y agoYeah I have, it has interesting results sometimes. The thing is, it's just a markov chain implementation rather than any involved machine learning. Though I do realize now that the twitter bot is probably using likes and retweets as a feedback metric which might explain why it can't discern negative feedback.
