- ikeboy 11y ago>Aside from a robust research department, Ben-Peretz attributes the company’s success to its original business in the mobile services sector, which gives Cellebrite good contacts with mobile phone operators and vendors and ensures it gets early access to new phone models and operating systems, allowing it to release updates for its software often months ahead of the competition. So manufacturers are helping them break in earlier by providing early access? Why would they do that?
- paulmd 11y agoI think they mean "mobile carriers and retailers" there. I.e. they're getting it from AT&T, or a Sprint Store (or the appropriate Israeli equivalents), not from Apple. I would speculate that the relationship is either commercial in nature, or that it also serves as a pentest to prevent things like unlocking/jailbreaking contract phones.
