Sounds like somebody needs to get themselves a copy of XaoS and have a play around: http://wmi.math.u-szeged.hu/xaos/doku.php That said, most of my knowledge of fractals comes from poring over the (insanely complete) documentation of Fractint when I was a wee lad. I've forgotten most of it by now, but there sure was a lot to wrap my young head around.
