Klondike: Solitaire for Mac, continually updated for 32 years by same man
- greenyoda 11y agoThe actual history of the program (1984 to present) can be found on this page: http://www.casteel.org/Pages/Narrative.html http://www.casteel.org/Pages/Narrative.html A co-worker of mine liked playing this game when we were working on Mac software in the early 90's.
- iamflimflam1 11y agoSimilar story about pcalc http://www.pcalc.com/english/twenty.html http://www.pcalc.com/english/twenty.html
- wingerlang 11y agoNot quite there yet, but this game has some yearly updates "X years of development". 13 years at the moment. http://www.zincland.com/powder/ http://www.zincland.com/powder/
- mintplant 11y agoI had this on my DS. Didn't know it was still being developed. Thanks!
- robocaptain 11y agoNot only has he been maintaining POWDER for that long, but Jeff Lait has also been putting out 7-day roguelikes annually for most of those years as well, including Fatherhood: http://www.zincland.com/7drl/fatherhood/ http://www.zincland.com/7drl/fatherhood/
- norea-armozel 11y agoI like this sort of thing considering how much of my own code gets replaced even me over just six months on a project. I doubt I'll ever make anything that'll stick around longer than a couple years. So, it's nice to see someone actually creates something that stays around longer than just a year.
- mattiemass 11y agoI love that you can still download a 68K version!
- azinman2 11y agoWhich is also a magnitude smaller!
- kyle_u 11y agoThere's something very zen about Solitaire games. I've been building them for over a decade, spanning the gamut from http://kylecards.com http://kylecards.com (no updates in over a decade!) to my latest game, https://solitaire.gg https://solitaire.gg - I really admire this person's dedication, maintaining an app like this is hard work - particularly when it takes place over decades.
- zeveb 11y agoOh, that is so cool! I remember playing Klondike as a kid on our old black-and-white Mac (Plus? Classic? something like that). Great to know that he's still around and still in business.
- hayksaakian 11y agoI like the clever separation of free and paid versions Free has 4 pre shuffled decks So anyone looking for replay value would want to pay, and the casual disinterested person would still have some fun with the free version.
