  I don't know the reason why, but somewhere around 12 or 18 months ago Greenspun became absolutely obsessed with child support payment law. It's pretty creepy and has really soured what is otherwise an interesting (if sometimes controversial) blog. The obvious guess is that he's on the hook for child support payments of some kind and isn't happy about it. That doesn't seem to be the case though.     He's mad about "Philip was ordered to pay child support to Michelle in the amount of $865 per week, retroactive to July, 2013, less certain credits." From the footnotes: 2. Philip mischaracterizes the weekly child support order by including, as part of his weekly obligation, the lump sum of retroactive support he was ordered to pay. 3. The judge found that the value of Michelle's assets was in excess of $720,000, and that the value of Phillip's assets was nearly $16,000,000. 4. The judge found Michelle's weekly income, exclusive of child support, to be $3,914.25, and Phillip's weekly income, exclusive of the child support obligation, to be $6,846.64. So in other words Phillip Greenspun brings in over $350k/year and is getting all fired up about having to pay at most $45k-ish to support a child that he helped bring into this world.

      Thx for digging through the footnotes. Indeed, his apparent rage at the issue seems completely out of proportion to the size of the checks he's writing.

    He has kind of always been like this. He's can be a good writer and has some interesting things to say, but I alway read his blog through my fingers covering my face, because his political writing is usually a cringe read, competitive with ESR's. "There is no reason for a woman to go to medical school. If she wants to have the spending power of a doctor she can just have sex with three doctors." "

      Ya, there were definitely cringeworthy moments before. But they were mixed in with enough thought provoking stuff I found it an enjoyable read. Now it's rage against women and/or child support in every 3rd post. That divorce must really have done a number on him.
