If you're an adult drinking fluoridated water and your diet doesn't consist entirely of Coca Cola, then indeed you have little to worry about in terms of cavities. Brushing one's teeth twice a day is then mostly a matter of grooming (read: not having bad breath).
- stcredzero 11y agoWith regards to grooming: Brush only once a day, but floss twice daily. Most people walk around with all this gristle between their teeth and gums, but it's covered up by minty flavor and smell just after they brush. Then it degenerates to a mixture of the gristle and the minty-toothpaste, which is actually worse!
- mchahn 11y agoI have quit using toothpaste. I researched what it was for and it was reported to have grit to polish the teeth, mouthwash action, and fluoride. I don't need fluoride and I don't want to grind my teeth down. I also haven't heard any reports of bad breath from no mouthwash. My teeth still feel cleaner, bits of food are removed, and don't look any uglier.
