Agreed. Even if they generalized it to just "debt payments" instead the same issue would be there. Theoretically a non-debt employee would be able to negotiate a higher salary in exchange for not needing the student loan debt help but in reality since sharing salary information is frowned upon in the US culture you'd probably just never know.
