Why not use 64-bit ids to prevent wraparound, at least as an option?
A storage design that requires periodic maintenance doesn't seem a good one.
- jeffdavis 11y agoTransaction IDs are 64 bits, but they need to be stored in the tuples themselves for visibility purposes. So, only the low 32 bits are stored, but that creates a wraparound problem.
