The people in the US most statistically likely to be comfortable with technology are young, male, and white or Asian. So your reasoning suggests that it's OK to take any other group of people, pick one of their least sophisticated to represent them all, and call it statistical reality.
How would you feel about The User is My Latino Neighbor, where instead of the user being Scotty's mom who happens to be computer-illiterate and stereotypically into quilting, it's his Latino neighbor who happens to be computer-illiterate and stereotypically working as a gardener?
I don't even mean to pick on the site, just the defense of stereotypes that you're making.
