The sugar tax money doesn't go into general taxation, it is ring-fenced as extra funding for school sports.
- JoeAltmaier 11y agoBut is it really? CA puts lottery money into the school fund. But then, every year, they vote to reduce the school fund by exactly the amount the lottery covers. So the lottery balance ends up in the general fund instead.
