Are we pretending that real criminals are suddenly going to stop using safe encryption just because it's illegal? That just doesn't make sense to me. I mean the software is out there, how are you going to stop people from using it? Or are we going to decrypt ALL the traffic, all the time just to make sure everybody still uses our weak crypto? That seems just as "absolutist" as perfect encryption. I just can't see any middle ground here.
