Ask HN: Examples of highly-proprietary info firms that embrace remote work?
Are there any examples of companies in the following industries that allow remote work as a regular option, rather than a case-by-case custom setup?
* Animated feature films (Pixar, Disney, Dreamworks calibre)
* Computer games (Bioware, DICE, etc. AAA calibre)
* Machine Learning w/ special-sauce algorithms and infrastructure (Google, Facebook, Baidu, MSR)
* Security / proprietary info-heavy (SpaceX, Palantir, Renaissance Capital, Bridgewater Associates)
I'm designing a company and I want to get some sense of how people handle access to specialized infrastructure and other proprietary information. I know that many HN'ers will vote for seamless remote access, but I'm also trying to think ahead to a team of 100 and 1000, rather than a team of 5.
Thanks!
