Yeah, I trust Moxie. He's worked really hard on security for a long time. If the government came to his house and threatened to shoot him unless he sabotaged Signal and WhatsApp, I expect he would get shot.
- chinathrow 11y agoI still can't find an official statement by WhatsApp that they are using his tech. Can you or anyone else?
- mSparks 11y agoits was confirmed to cia insiders in the media, but whatsapp never confirmed it themselves afaik. think this is probably a government vs government issue. (a lot like the backdoored routers). one government agency needs encryption to keep them safe from another government agency while they fight over who has control of the heroin trade in afghanistan. Also, while I haven't myself, I guess it would be fairly easy to disassemble the whatsapp apk.
