It’s a big intrusion on our privacy, but we recognize it as important. I cannot agree that I recognize the "security theater" conducted by the TSA as important or useful. [1] I will grant that it may have helped the airline industry continue to attract travelers during the fear-filled period immediately following 9/11. Was that worth infecting air travel with a self-perpetuating institutional virus? Are we prepared accept the consequences of similarly infecting a vastly more significant industry?
