Is this more common in the social sciences? I've never had a reviewer quote nearly as bad as these (computational biology). There are plenty of bad / lazy reviewers, but I would think the editor should be filtering stuff like this if they want to keep the journal reputable. Or maybe they've written off these article at the outset?
