Yep that sure looks like a fine C++17 proposal (although I didn't understand a word of how it would actually be implemented). How much do you want to bet that it won't be accepted? :). Like a lot of the other good proposals (std::optional anyone...?) I wouldn't be surprised if it never sees the light of day.
