My parents used this excuse to get out of buying Magic: The Gathering cards when I was young. It didn't make any sense to me - how could images of islands and mountains and angels be demonic?
- syntheticnature 11y agoI once, in the name of socializing with a coworker at his house, noted a stack of cards obviously belonging to his kids, and asked "Are those Magic cards?" His son replied, "No, they're Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic cards are Satanic." I looked down at the topmost card, saw it was something like "Demon Lord" (memory vague, but it was obviously evil and occult-looking, the exact thing that moral guardians cited for Magic) and went "uh-huh."
